Picture of Bobbi

Pederson Hill has been home to Bobbi for more than 50 years. A proud third-generation Juneauite, she has spent decades growing vegetables and flowers for her family, rooted in a legacy that stretches back to the early 1900s. Her relatives once owned and operated a dairy and farm right here on Pederson Hill — a heritage of hard work and stewardship that continues today.

In the spring of 2022, a visit to the tulip fields of Skagit Valley, Washington sparked a new dream: to create a retail cut-flower farm in Juneau. While Southeast Alaska’s rainforest climate isn’t always ideal for flower growing, greenhouses provided the perfect solution.

That summer, Bobbi and her husband James began transforming the property. They landscaped the land and built five raised-bed greenhouses, later expanding with four more the following spring. The old barn was lovingly converted into a walk-in cooler, workspace, and storage facility — blending history with new purpose.

By the summer of 2024, four additional greenhouses were added, bringing the farm to a total of 13 greenhouses. They also built a charming indoor classroom space affectionately known as “The Gazebo,” where learning and community come together.

In the spring of 2025, the family faced a major challenge when James lost his leg due to a severe infection. Despite this setback, his determination has never wavered. With resilience and faith, he continues to help build and grow the farm — with plans for building more greenhouses in the summer of 2026.

Each fall, Bobbi plants around 4,000 tulip bulbs in anticipation of spring. Every spring, more than 10,000 plants arrive for the gardens and for their annual May plant sale — a celebration of growth, color, and community.

Pederson Hill Farm is more than a flower farm. It is a story of heritage, perseverance, family, and faith. Bobbi warmly invites you to visit and experience the beauty of God’s creation through the flowers that bloom here on Pederson Hill.

About the Owner

Proper Flower Care

To keep your beautiful flowers lasting longer, you should frequently replenish the water and change it completely every 3 days. Whenever you change the water, trim the stems about half an inch. Make sure to keep your flowers away from too much heat. Stick to these tips and your arrangements will elicit “oohs” and “aahs” for days to come!
